How to Pair Your Custom Calendar with Greeting Cards

PrintingCenterUSA prints thousands of calendars a year. We print calendars for artists, photographers, pet lovers, small businesses, nonprofit organizations and so much more. We receive endless reviews from our customers loving the ease of design, unbeatable prices, excellent customer service, and the overall print quality. These customers utilize the calendars we print to give as gifts, sell for profit, and for fundraising. The same goes for greeting cards! PrintingCenterUSA makes it extremely affordable and easy to order multiple greeting card versions or lots within one order, which is excellent for showcasing a series of images with a theme—similarly to calendars.

With all of this in mind, we suggest our customers pair their 12 Month calendar with a complimentary line of greeting cards. Both Greeting Card and Calendar customers come back year after year to print with us. Why? Because Calendars and Greeting Cards make them money.  So I’m here today to provide some helpful insight on how to best make this investment.

Online Design Tools

We have easy-to-use online design programs for both Calendars and Greeting Cards. Our Calendar Design tool has multiple grid layouts that are customizable. Whether you need extra advertising space for fundraising or would just like to add special holidays/birthdays to specific dates, we’ve got you covered. Simply drag-and-drop to upload your photographs or artwork to your desired month, then preview your calendar to help you visualize the calendar as a whole.

Our Greeting Card Design Tool has an abundance of customizable themes for you. For artists and photographers, we recommend using the “Full Page Photo” option. This will make your work appear the most professional and grab the most attention. If you’re interested in collaging photos or adding borders, just scroll through our themes to find what works best for your project.

Once you have selected your theme, upload your photos, add any personalized message, then preview! If you’re happy with the design, click “Add to Cart” to then select how many of that card you would like to order. Repeat this process for each Greeting Card you are looking to create.

If you don’t want to use our online design tool for greeting cards, PrintingCenterUSA also provides free downloadable Calendar and Blank Greeting Card Templates. These template downloads will come with our PDF Presets and Color Settings, which will help you provide us with a print-ready PDF. Providing us with a print-ready PDF will ensure that your turnaround time will begin quickly. If you are providing a PDF to us for your greeting cards, then you can select the number of variations you want in the pricing tool during the ordering process. If you’re already making a calendar, just think about how easy it is to add Greeting Cards using the same images!

Standard Greeting Card Sizes and Calendar Sizes

PrintingCenterUSA prints Calendars in three standard sizes: 8.5” x 11” , 5.5” x 8.5” , and 12” x 12”. We recommend our 8.5” x 11” option as the most cost-effective and conveniently sized option—especially if you are considering mailing your calendars.

Our Standard Greeting Card Sizes are: 7” x 5” (folded), 5” x 7” (folded), 5.5” x 8.5” (folded), and 4.25” x 5.5” (folded). We recommend the 7” x 5” (folded” or 5” x 7” (folded).

These recommended sizes (8.5” x 11” Calendar and 5” x 7” Greeting Cards) will be the best options for someone looking to pair their calendar order with a line of greeting cards. With these options, there will be minimal dimensional adjustment, so you will maintain the original compositional integrity of your photo.

If your artwork is more conducive to a square 12” x 12” calendar, then the 4.25” x 5.5” Greeting Card size would be the best option to maintain the dimensions as closely as possible.

Additional Options

For customers looking to sell and mail their Calendars and Greeting Cards, there are a few additional options that you can select to help make the product you are offering be as professional as possible. For Calendars, you can request that we place your calendars into individual cellophane bags and have chipboard inserted into the calendar. The cellophane bags will protect the calendar from scratching, while the chip board will protect the calendar from bending.

For Greeting Cards, you can request that we go ahead and fold your Greeting Cards and insert them into envelopes for you. This will save you a ton of time in the long run and will provide the last finishing touch of professionalism that your greeting cards deserve.

Return on Investment

For Calendars, if you were to order 250 8.5” x 11” calendars with our recommended settings (the default settings in the pricing tool), then your cost without shipping would be *$896.50. If you sell your calendars for $15 a piece, then your return would be $2,853.50. Want to order 500 Calendars? The return on your investment would be $6,290.55.

Now for Greeting Cards, if you were to order 300 greeting cards with 12 variations, your order cost would be *$314.61. If you were to sell your greeting cards for $5 a piece, then your return would be $1,185.39. Want to order 600 Greeting Cards with 12 variations? Your return would be $2,628.30.

The point I’m trying to make here is that if you have already gone through the trouble to create the artwork for a 12 month calendar:

  1. You already have the artwork for a full line of Greeting Cards
  2. It would take mere minutes to design the Greeting Cards to pair with your Calendar
  3. You could add couple grand to your profits
  4. You would be adding variety to the products you offer

So…WHY NOT?
