Modern Love Magazine

The Modern Love Magazine was designed by company owner, Lacy Hammack to promote her luxury wedding photography business, Modern Love. I spoke with her recently to learn more about the project. She decided to design and produce this magazine for several reasons. The first and foremost reason was to have a sales tool for potential customers. When you first open the magazine you see reviews from her previous clients, which is a great way to establish trust with your new clients.

As you flip through the pages you can see that a lot of work went into the design of this magazine. After you read the customer reviews the magazine then transitions into pages that showcase the style and variety of photography that Modern Love is capable of. When you look back at your wedding photos you want to remember the magic you felt on that special day. Lacy uses this magazine to demonstrate to potential clients that Modern Love can do exactly that. From start to finish they can provide you with a wedding album to cherish for years to come.

Lacy wanted the magazine to receive a lot of exposure so she decided to include other bridal vendors in the magazine. This gives those vendors an incentive to pass out the magazine at their locations, thus increasing the pool of potential clients. This also gave her additional incentive to make the magazine as eye-catching and gorgeous as possible. She only uses her absolute best photography in this design.

Her advice for someone considering a print project is to request a hardcopy proof. Having the chance to see and feel a copy of the project is worth the extra money. In this instance, Lacy liked the online digital proof but when she had a hardcopy before her she realized she wanted to make some changes to the design. If you want your project to have a certain “look” or “feel” it’s a very good idea to get a hardcopy proof so that you know exactly how the printed project will turn out.

Lacy found us online and requested samples. She liked how we followed up with her right away to make sure that she received the samples. In fact, this turned out to be her favorite aspect of working with us. They ordered these magazines during their busy season (during which they often work 10 hour days) and Melissa, the customer service rep assigned to her order, made sure to follow up with Lacy every week to check in and see if she needed anything else.

They wouldn’t change anything about this run of the magazine. Lacy made sure that everything was perfect before she approved the proof, but they are considering some changes for their next order. Instead of ordering all the magazines at the size 8.5 x 11 they are considering ordering some full sized magazines for their store and some half size magazines (5.5 x 8.5) for the vendors to pass out. Since the smaller magazines cost less they will be able to produce more of them, potentially reaching a greator number of people.

Lacy uses this magazine to find new clients and as a sales tool for people who come into her studio. It’s a great way for her to stand out amongst other wedding photographers in the area. To learn more about their photography services, visit their website.
